Zêzere Canyon
Quartzite escarpments are records of a collision between continents in the past, where the river Zêzere has successively excavated and embedded its own riverbed. The best observation point is located near the exit to the Aldeia do Xisto of Janeiro de Baixo, by the road connecting to Cambas.
The slope that runs along the left bank makes up the Cabeço Mosqueiro, where there is a viewpoint with ichnofossils, and where you can gaze over the Zêzere. With luck, you can still find Teucrium. This geological monument can be visited via the PR4 — Janeiro de Baixo Schist Walking Trail, which spans 9.7 km.
