Janeiro de Cima River Beach
The Lavandeira River Park, in the village of Janeiro de Cima, is one of the most beautiful spots in the Region with traditional Ferry boats moored there and the recently restored Roda de Janeiro. On the banks of the Zêzere, the call of "O da barca!" is the signal for the ferry to come and convey people across the river. This was how people and trade on the two banks were brought together in the old days, and today it is still possible to use the cry for a trip upriver.
The area has a wide range of facilities for tourist activities, such as walking, mountain biking and boat trips with visits to pre-historic rock engravings and the villages of Janeiro de Baixo and Barroca.
