Temple of the extinct Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Vila Nova da Erra, the Romanesque church of São Mateus, with a rectangular portal overlaid by a window to illuminate the high choir.
Above the window, in a niche, is a Virgin, made of coarse stone, from the 16th century. Inside the church there is a 16th century “mudéjar” tile panel and a holy water sink that, instead of a column, has a stone figure (19th century) of almost total relief, with arms crossed above the head. , they are the ones who support the bowl, also made of stone (16th century). This piece is popularly called «Erra Velha».
